Father and son Emyr and Dafydd Hughes' do not advertise. The majority of their commissions come from recommendations and their outstanding reputation.
Commissioning a Bespoke Carving
At the workshop, individual pieces are created to clients' specific requests. The Hughes' enjoy the challenges of creating
all manner of unique items in a range of styles and timbers.
The Hughes' also have experience in specialist architectural restoration of original hand carved wooden features for listed buildings, period properties and private homes.
They also carry out restoration and enhancement of individual bespoke pieces and are able to embellish and encapsulate the style of entire ranges of reproduction furniture.
Past Commissions
In their combined 40 years of carving, father and son team Emyr and Dafydd Hughes have completed a great number of works. Past commissions include:
- Restoration of Windsor Castle - carving Boss and Cables for the Prince of Wales Lobby, after which Emyr was nominated by his peers to become a member of the Association of Master Carvers. He has been a Master Carver since 1997.
- St. Fagans National History Museum, Cardiff - Sculptures of Madonna and Child and St. Teilo on a stag for the reconstruction of the Medieval Church of St. Teilo
- Samuel Montague Bank - Panelled Room
- Pauntley Church - replacement of a 17th century oak chair with dragon cresting
- Hoarwithy Church, Herefordshire - Biblical figures.
